Responsibilities
Tasks
Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt-saturated felts and hot asphalt, and gravel.
Install a single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions.
Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings.
Repair roofing systems.
Instruct apprentices.
Supervise other workers.
Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
Install sheet metal flashings.
Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms.
Cut materials using power tools or by hand.
Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment.
Assist Team Leads and Journeymen in constructing and assemblingg layers of roofing from insulation to all types of flat roofing membranes (Including TPO, EPDM, SBS, PVC).
Assist in the installation and/or repair of PVC and vinyl-type flat roofs of commercial buildings.
Work on new roofing installations and the replacement of previously installed/damaged systems.
Install sheet metal flashings.
Maintain proper safety codes and procedures.
Work as a vital part of a knowledgeable team to make sure that all work is completed in a timely manner.
