We are seeking a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for one of our clients operating a large-scale industrial facility in the Western United States.

This is a hands-on position supporting both radiation safety and industrial hygiene programs across the site. The Radiation Safety Officer will work closely with EHS leadership, operations, and maintenance teams to assess workplace hazards, conduct exposure monitoring, support regulatory compliance, and help strengthen employee health and safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace assessments to identify occupational health and radiation-related hazards.
  • Perform radiation surveys, monitoring, and exposure assessments.
  • Conduct and oversee industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring, including air, dust, fumes, vapors, and noise.
  • Analyze monitoring and exposure data and recommend actions to reduce employee exposure risks.
  • Evaluate work practices, equipment, and operational processes to identify health and safety improvements.
  • Recommend and support engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE requirements.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate radiation and industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports, exposure assessments, documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Support radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, EHS, and site leadership to address workplace hazards.
  • Provide technical guidance on radiation protection and industrial hygiene matters.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in radiation safety, health physics, industrial hygiene, or occupational health and safety within an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with workplace monitoring, exposure assessments, radiation surveys, and/or industrial hygiene sampling.
  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, or other heavy industrial operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and occupational health regulations and standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, EHS, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications such as RSO, ARSO, CIH, CSP, or CMSP are a plus.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on industrial environment and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
