Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Requirements and Qualifications
- Doctoral or Master's degree in Nursing, with ANCC Certification in Psychiatric Nursing
- Valid DEA and Texas state licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, willing to obtain NM APRN license
- 3+ years of Psychiatric NP experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Credentialed with Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and Commercial Payers
- Knowledge of mental health and emotional disorders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat mental health and emotional disorders
- Prescribe and monitor medications
- Become competent in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and/or Spravato/Esketamine Therapies
- Maintain detailed records of patient visits and progress
- Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient continuity of care
- Educate patients and families about mental health and emotional disorders
- Participate in community outreach and education
