Job Number: 55740Are you a Personal Trainer looking to work in world-class City of Edmonton Recreation Centres?Do you have the theoretical knowledge and communication skills to safely coach, correct and develop the physical health of others?The Community Recreation and Culture Branch is looking for trainers that are personable, confident, knowledgeable and have a positive and supportive attitude. We are seeking Personal Trainers that have a passion for providing members an amazing experience at the Recreation Centres across the City to lead personal training and/or group fitness programs. If you are a fully qualified trainer and want to share your passion for health and fitness with City of Edmonton patrons, then this is the position for you!As a Personal Trainer, you will use your knowledge of human anatomy and exercise principles to:Provide private (1 on 1) personal training sessions to clientsProvide semi-private training sessions (2-4 individuals) to clientsFitness orientation programs for adults and Youth In Action programs for youth 12-15Determine clients' exercise needs through consultation with clients and assessmentsDevelop, document and implement individualized exercise plans based on client's goals, abilities and specific needsEducate and coach clients on how to exercise safely and effectively while providing encouragement and motivationMonitor, track and assess client progress and adapt programs as neededDemonstrate safety in all aspects of planning and delivery of programs, with an emphasis on preventing and managing injuriesContact clients within 48 hours of being assigned and build a positive and professional relationshipTrack and redeem personal training sessionsSubmit timesheetsPerform other duties as requiredQualifications:Completed or in progress degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or Human Kinetics or completed diploma in Personal TrainingCompleted one of the following current certifications or equivalent:CSEP - Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP)CSEP - Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)NSCA - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)FAB - Certified Personal Fitness Trainer (CPFT)Experience in customer service and the ability to conduct oneself in a professional mannerAssets:Additional Group Fitness/Exercise CertificationsSkills required for success:Experience in customer service and the ability to conduct oneself in a professional mannerStrong interpersonal, communication and leadership skillsDemonstrated ability to conduct effective needs assessments and exercise prescriptionInterest and experience with exercise leadership and physical activity promotionAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ()Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusionConditions of Employment:Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirementPossession of Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificationsApplicants may be testedWork Environment:Note: Due to the nature of this work, this position is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangementThe weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.
