Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Interventional Pain Management

Apex Interventional Pain Specialists

Maine · Bangor · United States

Job Description Job Description

Apex Interventional Pain Specialists is an advanced, physician-led practice dedicated to delivering minimally invasive, image-guided procedural and surgical solutions for chronic pain. We pride ourselves on providing personalized, outcome-driven care that improves function, reduces pain, and enhances quality of life.

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) who is enthusiastic, collaborative, and passionate about the evolving field of interventional pain management. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing startup clinic, work directly with multiple board certified fellowship-trained interventional pain physicians, and help shape the future of pain care in Maine.

Position Overview

This part-time position offers a flexible schedule averaging 30hours per week, including two in-office clinic days and additional surgical support in the operating room as needed. The PA-C will participate in both office-based patient care and operative assisting for advanced interventional procedures.

Prior surgical or procedural experience is encouraged but not required-we provide a structured onboarding and mentorship program with hands-on training, shadowing, and gradual transition to independent clinic sessions and procedural support.

We are a primary interventional practice that does not manage chronic opioid therapy; our model emphasizes restorative, procedural, and multidisciplinary approaches to pain.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Procedural Support

  • Conduct patient consultations and follow-up visits under physician supervision
  • Perform focused histories, physical exams, and treatment planning for interventional pain patients
  • Assist with operative and interventional procedures at outpatient and partner facilities
  • Prepare and update electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and efficiently
  • Educate patients on procedural expectations, post-operative care, and recovery planning
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient experiences

Practice Development & Growth

  • Participate in clinical projects, educational initiatives, and quality improvement efforts
  • Support the implementation of new service lines and procedural offerings
  • Contribute to developing evidence-based clinical workflows and patient education materials
  • Engage with referring providers and the community to promote awareness of advanced pain treatments

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NCCPA certification and active Maine PA license (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small, high-performance team
  • Passion for procedural medicine and hands-on learning

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in pain management, orthopedics, or neurosurgery
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks EMR
  • Interest in contributing to a fast-growing, physician-driven startup environment

What We Offer

  • Structured onboarding and mentorship
  • On-the-job training in interventional pain and surgical assisting
  • Flexible part-time schedule with expansion potential
  • Supportive, team-oriented work culture
  • Opportunities for professional development and leadership as the practice grows

Join Our Mission

This role is ideal for a self motivated and driven PA-C who thrives in a dynamic clinical environment and is eager to grow alongside an innovative interventional pain practice. You'll play a key role in advancing patient care, expanding procedural expertise, and building a practice that's redefining pain management in Maine.
