Neonatology Physician

Permanent Neonatology Physician in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Position Details:
Patient Population: Premature, critically ill, and newborn infants requiring NICU and newborn nursery care
Setting: 8-bed Level III NICU and 10 LDR couplet care rooms within a community hospital
Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive neonatal care in the Level III NICU and newborn nursery

• Attend and manage high-risk deliveries

• Deliver patient-centered care to an average daily census of 9 11 patients

• Collaborate with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and respiratory therapists

• Mentor and support NICU nursing and respiratory care teams

• Participate in development and implementation of clinical protocols

• Contribute to strategic growth and expansion of the NICU program

• Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

• Maintain strong communication with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams

• Participate in optional moonlighting opportunities within Virginia

Required Procedures:

• Neonatal critical care management

• High-risk delivery attendance

• Newborn stabilization and resuscitation

• NICU patient management

• Newborn nursery care

Support Staff: 2 Neonatologists, 4.5 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary neonatal care teams
Days Per Month: Week-on/week-off rotation
On-Call/Weekends: Home call during assigned week with 24-hour coverage for 7 consecutive days; weekend coverage included during on-service weeks

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Pediatrics

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neonatology

• Virginia Medical License or willingness to obtain

• Neonatology experience required

• Clean malpractice and license history highly preferred

• Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days)

• DEA required prior to start date
