Position Overview
An established hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an Experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Neurovascular Care to provide locum tenens coverage during a provider s maternity leave. This is a hospital-based position working in collaboration with an established neurosurgery team.

Assignment Details

  • Dates of Coverage: December 2025 March 2026

  • Reason for Coverage: Maternity Leave

  • Practice Setting: Hospital-based

  • Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric

  • Number of Neurosurgeons in Practice: 3

  • EMR: Epic

  • Autonomy: NP will not work autonomously; supervising physician is always available (on-site or by phone)

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat illnesses

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests

  • Write prescriptions

  • Coordinate care with the neurosurgery team

  • Act as first responder to all Code Stroke alerts within the facility

Credentialing

  • Estimated Timeframe: 120 days

Requirements

  • Active Virginia NP License required

  • AANP Certification required

  • ACLS & ENLS required

  • DEA Registration & CDS Certification required

  • Neurovascular experience highly preferred (minimal training required; no new grads)
