Structural Welder

We are seeking experienced Structural Welders to join our team supporting a large-scale industrial electrical and construction project. This is a shop-based position focused on welding structural steel, pipe supports, cable tray supports, transformer vault components, and other structural and mechanical assemblies.

The ideal candidate has strong FCAW welding experience, can read and interpret drawings, perform accurate fit-up, and produce high-quality structural welds while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on steel components, supports, frames, and miscellaneous structural assemblies.
• Weld pipe supports, cable tray supports, transformer vault components, and other structural steel.
• Perform FCAW welding in multiple positions, including horizontal and vertical.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication drawings, dimensions, weld symbols, and project specifications.
• Perform accurate layout, measuring, fitting, and alignment of structural components prior to welding.
• Perform structural steel fit-up to required dimensions and tolerances.
• Prepare surfaces and joints for welding, including grinding and cleaning.
• Use grinders, saws, drills, torches, and other tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect completed welds for quality, appearance, alignment, and overall workmanship.
• Identify and communicate fit-up, material, or welding issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Complete work according to production schedules and established quality standards.

Structural Weld Test:

The structural weld test requires welding a 1/2-inch beveled plate with a 30 ree; bevel and backing bar, performing both vertical and horizontal FCAW welds.

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience as a Structural Welder, Welder/Fitter, or Industrial Welder preferred.
• Strong FCAW welding experience required.
• Experience welding structural steel and miscellaneous steel assemblies.
• Ability to perform quality welds in horizontal and vertical positions.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication drawings, dimensions, and weld symbols.
• Strong structural steel fit-up and layout skills.
• Experience with grinders, saws, drills, torches, and other welding/fabrication tools.
• Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic mathematical calculations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
