POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and organization of the Engineering Department at Estate Yountville. This role combines knowledge of hotel engineering and facilities with a highly organized, systems-focused approach to departmental operations, reporting, workflow, and process improvement.

The Engineering Manager will strengthen the department's systems and processes, including preventive maintenance, work orders, inspections, equipment records, vendor documentation, reporting, and departmental workflows. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with Excel and other software platforms and can bring structure, accountability, and efficiency to a technically skilled Engineering team.

This position works closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Spa, Landscaping, and other departments to ensure the property's facilities, guest rooms, public spaces, and operational areas are maintained to Estate Yountville's standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Operations & Systems

  • Organize and improve Engineering Department systems, workflows, documentation, and reporting.
  • Implement and maintain software, work-order, preventive maintenance, and tracking systems.
  • Develop schedules, trackers, SOPs, checklists, and reporting tools to improve accountability and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records for equipment, vendors, inspections, service contracts, and compliance requirements.

Preventive Maintenance & Facilities

  • Support and administer the property's Preventive Maintenance Program, ensuring work is properly scheduled, completed, and documented.
  • Monitor work orders, PM completion, inspections, recurring issues, and equipment maintenance.
  • Partner with Engineering leadership and operational departments to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize guest impact.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve maintenance processes and property operations.

Team & Process Improvement

  • Support the Engineering team with daily organization, priorities, scheduling, and workflow.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards using Excel and other technology to provide visibility into departmental performance.
  • Help train team members on systems, software, and departmental procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to increase organization, communication, and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, building operations, property operations, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Experience in a hotel, resort, commercial property, residential property, healthcare facility, institutional environment, or similarly complex property preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, maintenance, facilities, and preventive maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize complex information, workflows, schedules, and documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, sorting/filtering, and data organization.
  • Experience implementing, administering, or improving maintenance management, work-order, CMMS, facilities, or property-management software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop practical systems and processes and help teams adopt new workflows and technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hospitality or luxury resort experience.
  • Experience with CMMS, hotel engineering, facilities management, or work-order software.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, conditional formatting, and data validation.
  • Experience developing SOPs, workflows, checklists, dashboards, and departmental reporting.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, equipment replacement programs, or property improvements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work throughout the property for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, temperatures, noise levels, and lighting.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces as needed.
  • Ability to use computers and other office technology for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, vendors, and property leadership.
