DSM Contracting is currently seeking a Lead SHOP Mechanic in Baltimore, Maryland to keep our construction vehicles, machinery and heavy equipment running strong. If you can diagnose issues, make repairs, and help lead shop operations - this role is for you.

Pay based on experience + overtime opportunities

What You'll Do:

  • Lead troubleshooting, diagnose, repair and maintain dump trucks, heavy and light duty trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet, heavy equipment, as well as heavy and light duty trucks
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
  • Help prioritize and coordinate daily shop repairs; assist coordinating shop workflow repair activities to support efficiency
  • Inspect all equipment vehicles regularly for compliance
  • Ensure all repairs meet DOT and OEM standards
  • Maintain service records and documentation
  • Perform and review "check in" and "check out" inspections for fleet equipment accuracy and completeness
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to mechanics and technicians
  • Communicate equipment status with supervisors and field crews
  • Respond to and communicate with internal requests for service or repairs
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient shop environment
  • Order and track parts. Support parts coordination and assist with shipping/receiving as needed
  • Assist leadership with shop operations and process improvements as opportunities arise

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience with diesel, fleet, and heavy equipment repair
  • Experience with Mack (Maxitorque) trucks
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

Ideal Candidates:

  • CDL license Class "A" with manual endorsement desired
  • Willing to consider Class "B" with manual endorsement
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Natural engineering and problem-solving senses
  • Welding and fabricating skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependable and reliable attendance
