About the Role
Scidell is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its team at the Saint Elmo Project in Julia Creek, Queensland.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering and technical support across the design, construction, commissioning and operation of mechanical plant, equipment and infrastructure.
The role will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, maintenance and operations teams to support safe, reliable and efficient project outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a mechanical engineering or similar role.
- Experience within mining, mineral processing, engineering, construction or industrial environments is highly regarded.
- Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles, equipment and plant systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Current driver's licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support across project design, construction, commissioning and operational activities.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, designs, technical specifications, scopes of work and project documentation.
- Support the selection, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical plant, equipment and infrastructure.
- Provide technical input for processing plant, materials handling, piping, pumps, tanks, utilities and associated mechanical systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, performance, maintainability and energy efficiency.
- Assist with technical reviews of tenders, supplier proposals and contractor submissions.
- Support construction activities by monitoring the quality and technical compliance of mechanical works.
- Undertake technical investigations and engineering assessments to resolve equipment and operational issues.
- Assist with contractor, subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Support project schedules, cost estimates, variations, risk assessments and engineering records.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, maintenance and operations teams to deliver project outcomes.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant standards, legislation, safety requirements and company procedures.
