Experienced Chinese Cuisine Head Chef / Wok Chef

The Singing Bamboo is a well-established Chinese restaurant in West Palm Beach serving the community for more than 40 years. Our menu includes Cantonese cuisine, traditional Chinese dishes, Chinese-American classics, dim sum, seafood, wok dishes, roast meats and more.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Chinese Cuisine Head Chef to lead our kitchen long term.

This is not an office-only Executive Chef position. We need someone who can cook at a high level, work the wok during service, understand traditional Chinese kitchen techniques, train employees and take ownership of food quality and consistency.

What we need

• Strong professional experience cooking Chinese cuisine
• Advanced commercial wok skills
• Knowledge of Cantonese cooking strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of Chinese sauces, marinades, velveting, stir-fry techniques and high-volume service
• Ability to reproduce dishes consistently every time
• Ability to train and develop kitchen staff
• Strong organization and cleanliness
• Experience managing prep, inventory, ordering and food waste
• Ability to help standardize and document recipes and procedures
• Strong leadership without unnecessary ego or drama
• Reliable and interested in a long-term position

Experience with dim sum, Chinese BBQ/roast meats, seafood and traditional Chinese dishes is a major plus.

Mandarin or Cantonese is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

The Head Chef will:

• Lead daily kitchen operations
• Cook and supervise high-volume wok service
• Maintain food quality and consistency
• Train cooks on recipes and techniques
• Create and maintain standardized recipes
• Improve prep and station organization
• Monitor portions and food waste
• Assist with purchasing and inventory
• Maintain sanitation and food-safety standards
• Work directly with ownership on continued improvement of the restaurant

Compensation

$65,000-$80,000 annually depending on experience and ability.
