Electrical Engineering Designer

Position: Electrical Engineering Designer Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Engineering / Design

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Designer to support the design, drafting, documentation, and development of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, or building projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to produce accurate electrical drawings and design documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare electrical engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and details.

Develop electrical power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage system designs.

Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design software.

Assist engineers with electrical calculations, equipment selection, and system design.

Prepare one-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.

Review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines.

Assist with field surveys and existing-condition documentation.

Respond to design changes, RFIs, and construction-related questions.

Maintain project documentation and follow company drafting and design standards.

Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and project requirements.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of experience in electrical engineering design or drafting required.

Proficiency with AutoCAD required; experience with Revit MEP is a strong advantage.

Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems.

Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or building electrical systems.

Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination. Familiarity with electrical load calculations and voltage-drop calculations.

Experience preparing construction documents.

EIT certification or progress toward professional engineering licensure is a plus.
