Civil Engineer - Land Development

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of land development and site development projects. This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in site design, grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility coordination.

The successful candidate will work with senior engineers and project managers while taking on increasing responsibility for project design, client coordination, project management, and construction support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of land development and site development projects.
  • Perform site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, and utility design.
  • Prepare civil engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for development projects.
  • Support feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, alternatives analysis, and project cost estimating.
  • Coordinate water, sewer, stormwater, and other site utility systems.
  • Prepare and coordinate permitting documentation and assist with regulatory approvals.
  • Develop grading and drainage plans for commercial, residential, mixed-use, and institutional developments.
  • Support project scope, schedule, and budget tracking from conceptual design through construction.
  • Assist with project schedules and monthly project status reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, architects, surveyors, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in client meetings and stakeholder coordination efforts.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with change order documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and follow established quality control procedures.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably focused on land development or site development.
  • Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility design preferred.
  • Experience supporting commercial, residential, mixed-use, municipal, or institutional development projects is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.


Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of land development and site civil engineering principles.
  • Experience with:
    • Civil 3D
    • AutoCAD
    • Bluebeam
    • Microsoft Office 365
  • WaterCAD experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of local and state development regulations, permitting requirements, and civil design standards.
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, and utility coordination.
