EHS Coordinator

Position Summary The EHS Coordinator supports daily environmental, health, and safety activities by helping maintain a safe, compliant, and well-documented workplace. Reporting directly to the EHS Manager and indirectly to the Plant Manager, this role assists with inspections, hazard identification, incident documentation, employee safety support, compliance tracking, and environmental program administration while working closely with supervisors, associates, HR, and operational leaders. Key Responsibilities Safety, Compliance & Documentation • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits; identify, report, and track unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, hazards, and corrective actions. • Monitor housekeeping, PPE availability/use, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, contractor safety, and general facility safety practices. • Maintain SDS books, chemical inventories, OSHA-related records, safety documentation, and audit/inspection readiness files. Training, Programs & Employee Support • Assist with new hire safety orientation, safety talks, refresher training, employee communications, and training record tracking. • Support OSHA-required programs including forklift safety, hearing conservation, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and related safety initiatives. • Assist supervisors with safety coaching, safety committee follow-up, signs/notices, and consistent reinforcement of company safety rules. Incident, Environmental & Best Practice Support • Assist with workplace injuries, first aid incidents, near misses, investigations, witness statements, corrective actions, and incident tracking. • Support environmental activities including spill prevention, waste handling, emergency planning, evacuation drills, and emergency equipment inspections. • Assist with job safety analyses, standard operating procedures, safety best practices, and annual hearing testing coordination with HR. Preferred Experience • Experience supporting safety, environmental, health, or compliance activities in a manufacturing, industrial, or high-volume operations environment preferred. • Working knowledge of OSHA-related programs, PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, SDS management, inspections, training coordination, and incident documentation preferred. Education • High school diploma or GED required. • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; relevant safety training or certification preferred. Skills • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, organization, and recordkeeping skills. • Effective communication skills with associates, supervisors, HR, and operational leaders. • Ability to observe work areas, identify safety concerns, escalate issues, and support corrective action follow-up. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and practical problem-solving in a safe, compliant, team-oriented workplace. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat unassisted
