Summary

Responsible for administering the EHS programs and protocols for the company across two facilities. Research to identify best practices, analyze to spot issues, lead company safety information campaigns. Ensures that all processes of plant and facility operation adhere to all components of company safety policies. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal (OSHA) rules, laws, and regulations.

Core EOS Functions:

Lead, mentor, ensure accountability (LMA) in the Safety Department

Ensure the Enterprise Operating System (EOS) Integration in the Safety Department

Safety Strategy/Intelligence

Develop and attain safety department goals

OSHA and Industry compliance

EPA Reporting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure OSHA compliance to reduce work-related injuries and compliance to reporting requirements

Monitor work conditions and resolve any safety issues that may arise

Set safety standards for the workplace, train employees to understand rules and regulations and how they are applied to them

Develop and provide training to all employees on safety, health, and environmental procedures and ensure employees are provided with required training for job center.

Conduct safety observations and inspections on a regular basis

Attend and/or conduct safety walks and inspections before or during special projects to analyze safety risks.

Conduct Job Hazard Assessments or PHA

Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machine operation

Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety

Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events.

Coordinate onboarding, refresher training, and required operator certifications.

Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented

Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions

Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations

Manage hazardous and universal waste: labeling, accumulation-area inspections, manifests, vendor pickups, and records.

Maintain SWPPP/stormwater inspections, outfall observations, corrective actions, records, and required submissions.

Support powder-coating air- permitting/exemption records, wash-water/sanitary-discharge compliance, chemical management, SDS/HazCom, and vendor/consultant coordination

Compiles and submits accident reports to Human Resources manager to send to regulatory agencies

Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.

Maintains safety files and records

Additional Responsibilities and Roles

Plans and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.

Prepares studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies

Act as liaison between management and external safety & Environmental agencies (fire, insurance, EPA, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Training and orientating new hires

Training and recertifying employees on tow motor, including automated pallet jack, overhead crane

Addressing and resolving safety issues as soon as possible

Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback

Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and managers

Understand the roles of company leadership and AutoGate team members, system resources and processes both intra and inter department positions and duties.

Utilize the most effective form of communication with employees, managers, co-workers, clients, and vendors

Understand that daily tasks through long-term company vision are interwoven in the AutoGate EOS. Prioritize and re-prioritize tasks in a dynamic fluid environment.

Display a willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, support and explain the reasoning and measure in your decision-making process

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines

Education and/or Experience

Two- or four-year degrees in health, safety, or environmental discipline with three to five years' experience. In lieu of degree, seven to ten years of experience and a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of safe workplace practices and environmentally friendly strategies. Requires familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations and other applicable laws and guidelines. Strong desire for continuous improvement. Above average problem-solving skills & root cause analysis, ability to communicate to all levels of company personnel. Continuing education classes through the BWC and Safety Councils required. Experience with Microsoft office products, and other safety software desired.
