Director of Safety at Northumberland Ferries

Lead safety and security initiatives with Northumberland Ferries Limited in Halifax. As Director of Safety & Security, your expertise will drive regulatory compliance and operational safety strategies for an essential marine transportation provider. Reporting to the Vice President, Administration, the Director of Safety & Security serves as a senior leader overseeing safety management, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness. Your role will also involve managing the Designated Person Ashore function, ensuring direct lines of communication with top decision-makers regarding safety matters. This position aims to foster a robust safety culture and ensure the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: • Lead continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) • Ensure compliance with marine and safety regulations • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations • Oversee marine and facility security programs • Develop safety objectives and risk assessments Requirements: • Degree in Engineering or related field • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience • In-depth knowledge of ISM Code and SOLAS • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills • Familiarity with maritime cybersecurity risks Shape the future of safety and compliance at Northumberland Ferries Limited.
