Controls Background and Candidate Priority

  • Primary target: Strong, hands-on Beckhoff and Siemens controls experience.
  • Beckhoff and Siemens are the systems currently used and are the strongest match.
  • Allen-Bradley experience is relevant and we will consider strong Allen-Bradley candidates, particularly those willing and able to learn Beckhoff and Siemens.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working directly on manufacturing equipment in a hands-on troubleshooting environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety, quality, and manufacturing standards in accordance with internal and external expectations.
  • Troubleshoot control-system problems and implement short- and long-term corrective actions.
  • Integrate control systems to measure and improve equipment and manufacturing performance.
  • Create, modify, and maintain PLC, computer, HMI, and VFD programs.
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for control systems.
  • Maintain electrical and controls drawings and schematics.
  • Use a collaborative, synchronous approach to project implementation.
  • Participate in formal problem-solving activities, customer-complaint investigations, and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Provide controls support and troubleshooting training to Maintenance personnel.
  • Support Production, Maintenance, Tool Room, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Launch, and Sales as needed.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of controls programming experience preferred.
  • Mechatronics and systems-integration experience.
  • Hands-on industrial controls troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Continuous-improvement experience, such as Lean or Six Sigma.

Preferred Experience

  • Five or more years in automotive manufacturing.
  • Formal root-cause problem solving.
  • Project management.
  • Controls or electrical design using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Training and team development.
  • Experience working within IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 environments.
