About the Role

The CNC Programmer / Prototyping Specialist will be responsible for the full machining process for R&D and development projects, from programming and setup through machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and process optimization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the prototyping department and machining processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on R&D projects and provide manufacturing feasibility feedback.
  • Develop CNC programs, setups, and machining processes for prototype and production parts.
  • Program and operate 5-axis Matsuura, Haas UMC, and Haas VF mills.
  • Create detailed process documentation to ensure repeatability.
  • Design and manufacture fixtures for improved process consistency.
  • Develop Renishaw probing routines to improve productivity and automate quality processes.
  • Create CMM inspection programs for R&D and development projects.
  • Optimize machining strategies while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot CNC machines and machining processes.
  • Communicate project timelines, estimates, and progress with internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Quality Control to support metrology and inspection efforts.
  • Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production demands.


Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing or engineering technician experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate degree in a technical or related field preferred.
  • Strong CAD/CAM programming experience.
  • Experience with CNC machining and prototyping.
  • Experience with 5-axis machining strongly preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and process control.
  • CMM programming and Renishaw probing experience.
