OVERALL PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to provide routine, standardized, safe patient care for outpatients under the supervision of the medical provider(s) while promoting efficient patient flow. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Employee must
- Be present for all work shifts.
- Arrive at least 7 minutes before workshift begins.
- Remain on the job site for the entire shift.
- Work at AID Upstate's Greenville or Anderson location as needed.
- Ensure all required/requested records are in the patient chart/EHR prior to each patient encounter in an efficient and timely manner to include processing lab/test results into the patient chart/EHR.
- Room patients in a timely and efficient manner and obtain brief medical history and chief complaint from patients during rooming encounter.
- Document patient vital statistics and other encounter data in the patient chart/EHR.
- Document and reconcile all patient allergies and medications in the patient chart/EHR at each visit.
- Prepare exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Clean exam rooms between between each patient.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and other activities related to direct patient care.
- Administer immunizations and injectable medications as prescribed by a provider.
- Draw blood and/or obtain patient body fluid specimens as ordered by a provider and prepare specimens for LabCorp pick-up.
- Arrange patient appointments for diagnostic testing/labs, consults, referrals and hospital admissions.
- Call in or e-scribe prescriptions for patients according to provider order and document appropriately in the patient's chart/EHR.
- Receive and return clinically related telephone calls-screening and forwarding those requiring provider action-and document appropriately in the patient's chart/EHR.
- Attend scheduled department staff and medical meetings.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
